Republic Day Speech

73rd Republic Day Speech

Good Morning & A very happy Republic Day to everyone out there!

Freedom in our mind, strength in our words, pureness in our blood, and pride in our soul with all these elements lets Salute our country on it’s 73rd REPUBLIC DAY.

Dear All, India is the world’s biggest democracy, its constitution is the World’s longest and today this biggest book of law turns 73 years old.

India gained its Independence from British rule on August 15, 1947 so, for a country just born, a vision for future was definitely essential .Therefore ,the task had begun with the creation of a constituent assembly in 1946 led by Dr.Bhimrao Ambedker Saheb.

The 299 members from assembly had 229 representatives from 12 Indian provinces and 70 nominated from Princely states. The assembly also had 15 women representatives. The Indian constitution beats all, by its sheer size.

Now compare this- ‘The world’s largest democracy  (INDIA)has a constitution running in 1 lakh 45 thousand words, in contrast the US constitution ,being the world’s oldest democracy, has only 4,400 words. The original text of Indian Constitution contains 295 Articles, 22 parts & 8 schedules.

The scientists and scholars across the world have applauded the Indian ethos and knowledge. Einstein acknowledged   with gratitude and said, “ We owe a lot to the Indians who taught us how to count, without which no scientific discovery could have been made.” It does well to remember such salutations to India and its evolved culture.

We all need to come together to develop a nation of harmony, peace and development. We also need to build a legacy i.e. free from negativity, free from prejudice and corruption. Preamble from the constitution says ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ not I . The journey from   I   to- We is the journey of triumph, progress and advancement. Let us all strive to be on this journey. Rabindranath Tagore had dreamt of this destiny in Geetanjali for the Young India Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection....
We need to constantly work towards realizing and pursuing the goals individually in order to be collectively responsible. Today we must pledge to refashion the country’s intellectual boundaries with the values that India is known for.
