(Nominative Absolute + Perfect Participle (having+V 3rd)+ rest of the sentence +, (comma)+the other sentence as it is

For Example-

1.The sun set in the west. The stars came up in the sky.

-The sun having set in the west, the stars came up in the sky.

2.The sun rose. The frogs disappeared.

-The sun having risen, the frogs disappeared.

NOTE:   If there are ( was/were /is/ am/ are) with verb then Having will change into being.



SOLVED PRACTICE EXERCISE

Combine each set of sentences into one simple sentence by using a Nominative Absolute construction.


1.His friend arrived.He was very pleased.
Ans-His Friend having arrived, he was pleased.

2. The rain fell. The crops revived.
Ans-The rain having fallen, the crops revived.

3.The storm ceased .The sun came out.
Ans-The storm having ceased, the sun came out.

4. The troops were ordered out. The police was unable to hold the mob in check.

Ans-The troops being ordered out, the police was unable to hold the mob in check.

5. The holidays are at an end.Boys are returning to school.
Ans-The holidays being at the end, boys are returning to school.

6. The wind failed. The crew set to work with a will.

Ans-The wind having failed, the crew set to work with a will.

7.His house has been burned down. He lives in a hotel.
Ans-The house having been burned down, he lives in a hotel.

8.The king died. The eldest son came to the throne.
Ans-The king having died, the eldest son came the throne.
